How to Get a Library Card at the
Galena Public Library
East and West Galena Township Residents:
Adults:
Show proof of residence in East or West Galena
Township (Driver's License or Illinois State ID,
tax bill, utility bill or lease.)
Children:
Parents of children, 18 years or younger, need
to show proof of residence in East or West Galena
Township. Each child must complete an application
with a parent or guardian signature.
Non Residents:
Persons living outside East or West Galena
Township may purchase a non-resident card.
Please call the library for details.
What if I lose or damage my
card?
Please report lost, misplaced or stolen cards
immediately.
Lost or damaged cards will be replaced at the rate
of $0.50 per card.
Change of address or name?
Please let us know so your library card may be
kept current. Identification must be
provided.
Galena Public Library cards are issued for
three years. Identification must be provided
when a card is issued or updated.
How long is the
checkout period?
All books, magazines, CD's and audiocassettes are
loaned for a two-week period.
Videocassettes and DVD's are loaned for three
days. (There is a limit of three items per checkout
period.)
Reference materials do not circulate.
Materials may be renewed in person or over the phone.
What if I forget to return my
materials?
Fines:
Overdue adult materials: $0.15/day
Overdue children's materials: $0.10/day
Overdue video/DVD's: $1.00/day
Maximum Fines:
Adult Materials (1 item) $5.00
Children's Materials (1 item) $4.00
