Children’s Programs

IMG_1464Toddler Storytime: Held almost every Friday at 10:15am (check calendar for most up-to-date schedule). For children between the ages of 1 and 3. Led by Children’s Librarian Miss Rachel. We tell stories, sing songs, do crafts and play fun games. Caregivers are encouraged to arrive early so their child can acclimate himself or herself to the library.

Preschool Storytime: Held almost every Wednesday at 11:15am (check calendar for most up-to-date schedule). For children between the ages of 3 and 5. Led by Children’s Librarian Miss Rachel. We tell stories, sing songs, do crafts and play fun games.

Lego Club-Held once a month. Best for kids aged 4-14. Use the library’s collection of Legos (only available for play during Lego Club) to build your unique creation based on each month’s theme and compare with your friends. Each meeting takes place on the last Saturday of each month at 2pm.

1000 Books Before Kindergarten-An ongoing program for children from birth to the beginning of kindergarten. Caregivers and children are challenged to read 1000 books before the child enters kindergarten. Incentives along the way. Registration available in the children’s library.

Dolly Parton Imagination Library-United Way of Northwest Illinois has partnered with the Freeport Community Foundation, Illinois Bank and Trust, First Community Bank of Galena and Apple River State Bank to offer this program of free books to all families in Jo Daviess County who have children aged birth through 5. Sign up can be done online, using the link, or via paper form available at the library.
